Only with Napoleon’s rise to power was the game allowed again, and it became a good source of money for the state treasury.

Then the Blanc brothers, who did a lot for the development of casinos, removed the double zero and thus reduced the profits of their establishment. This led to an increase in the popularity of their gambling houses and of roulette itself.

Both brothers spent their lives comfortably, and one of them said that he had made a deal with the devil to invent roulette rules. As evidence of this, the number on the wheel equals 666. It was the Blanc brothers who came up with the order of the numbers on the sectors and it hasn’t changed for many years.

But roulette itself was in for some tough times. In the 19th century, gambling was banned in France. As a result, entrepreneurs moved first to Germany and then opened the first casino in Monaco. The game then gained popularity in the New World, but there it changed somewhat. The double zero was reintroduced and the betting field became smaller.

Roulette is not known as the queen of casinos for nothing. After all, it can make a player incredibly rich or leave him with nothing in an instant. That’s why roulette attracted not only ordinary people. For example, Fyodor Dostoevsky, during his visits to Germany, liked to go to the casino and make a bet. It was there that he got the idea to write his novel The Gambler. In different countries, even the first persons were fond of roulette. These include Queen Elizabeth II of England and Winston Churchill. Among the fans of the game and there are real stars. Thus, Brad Pitt and George Clooney, filming in the movie “Ocean’s 11” decided to become co-owners of a casino in Las Vegas. Thereafter, the actors often spent their free time playing roulette. What is remarkable, they were able to play correctly and stop in time. Indeed, a passion for gambling was not an obstacle to the development of an acting career. And not just hers. Many politicians have successfully combined a career and gambling. For example, one may recall the Duchess of Marlborough. She became quite a successful politician in England. At the same time, in her spare time she liked to visit the casino and spend her time at the roulette table.
